Fresh, fast and filling, the food at Bearritos is our take on familiar and original Mexican street food.

We mix modern and traditional Mexican techniques with more recent innovations in US and UK Mexican cooking.

Tacos, burritos and tortas are always on our menu and with our weekly specials we can experiment with seasonal and original combinations.

Made with warmed soft corn tortillas, Tacos are the universal Mexican street food. Ours can be ordered individually or as a set of three. Packed with black beans, guacamole, slaw and your choice of filling, our tacos offer an original take on this well known, popular and versatile meal.

Born in northern Mexico and adapted by their near neighbours to the north, burritos are arguably the food most commonly associated with Mexico but often the least likely to be found there (like chicken tikka masala). The evolution of the burrito from simple meat and beans to one that may contain rice, slaw, sour cream and salsa has made it a delicious mix of two different worlds.

It has certainly evolved from its humble roots as lunchtime food for miners and cattle workers. Bearritos burritos are crammed full of fresh and tasty ingredients and are great to eat on the move or on the top deck of the bus.

Fairly new to the UK, our tortas are an original and exciting take on a dish that is wildly popular in Mexico. Take a bread roll, toast it and stuff it with hot fillings, fresh avocado, black beans, slaw and salsa, building it into a satisfying and filling surprisingly familiar meal.

Don’t fancy the carbs? All of our dishes can be served “naked”, on bed of Romaine lettuce, with or without the rice.

Ethics & philosophy

Bearritos is proud to produce all of our food in the kitchen on the ground floor of our double decker bus. All of our main fillings, beans, rice, slaw, salsas and guacamole are made here daily (there are no freezers on the bus and nothing is bought in readymade).

Freshness is key, we use fresh corn and flour tortillas, fresh bread and fresh bus-made slaw and guacamole

Our recipes are our own, but owe a debt to the many influential Mexican chefs, cooks and writers who have a passion for this exciting and fascinating cuisine. Street food can offer a little insight into a national cuisine but is also only a snapshot; it should act as an inspiration to delve deeper and explore the wide range of regional specialities that such a diverse country as Mexico can offer.

We are gringos after all, so we have not inherited recipes from generations of our families. We have travelled in Mexico and loved the bustle and vibrancy of the mercados and cantinas that we came across and at Bearritos we have tried to capture a little of that excitement and colour.

We are proud to use the leading wholesaler Mexgrocer for our flour tortillas, herbs, spices and chillies.

London based Cool chile company provide us with the best corn tortillas available in the UK (in our opinion), herbs, spices and chillies. They also have a great Taqueria in Westbourne Grove in London.

We get much of our fresh fruit and veg from Bear Fruit, our next door (but one) neighbours. It is guaranteed fresh and ensures that money stays in the local economy (we often pay with Bristol pounds).

Bristol Sweetmart is a key destination for rice, herbs, fresh chillies and spices. If you live in Bristol and haven't been, then get there now, it's great.

Otomi in the Clifton Arcade has supplied us with kitchenware and the lovely tiles that you can see on our counter. Definitely worth a visit for authentic Mexican gifts, kitchenware and food and drink.

All of our meat is covered by assured farm standards (red tractor) this guarantees safe, quality food that meets animal welfare standards. Ours comes from John Sheppard who are based here in St Werburghs in Bristol.
